Coquitlam is located to the East of the major city of Vancouver and includes the areas of: Eagle Ridge, Westwood Plateau, Riverview Heights, Maillardville, Pinetree, Poirier, and Centennial.  With over 121,000 residents living in Coquitlam (taken as of 2005), this city has seen a significant increase in population since the previous census in 2001 with 112,000 residents.  Coquitlam is considered to be part of the Tri-Cities which also include Port Coquitlam and Port Moodyandm is home to a number of beautiful natural elements.  Westwood Plateau, an area of recent residential development backs on a second-growth forest.  In addition, Coquitlam has a number of lakes and rivers that provide recreational fun and activities including canoeing, kayaking, and boating.
