About Cranbrook, B.C.

Kimberley, Fernie, Sparwood, Kaslo, Nelson, Creston

Cranbook is located in British Columbia, with a population of around 18,500 people.  The area was originally inhabited by the Ktunaxa natives.  In 1807, the natives were visited by the first Europeans who trickled in and eventually settled in the area, some of the traders, but it was the prospectors that came in droves in the mid 1800’s when gold was discovered in 1863. In 1883, it was Colonel James Baker who bought and settled into the area, naming the area after his home town in England.   Counselling Cranbrook, BC, provides a new and divergent path from the hardships faced by individuals and families.  The area experienced some unrest between the Indians and the European settlers, but eventually made peace and lived together in the area amicably.  In 1886, Baker became a member of the Legislature.  Then in 1898, Baker talked the Canadian Pacific Railway into establishing a line through Cranbrook rather than Fort Steele, which was the original plan for the railway.  It wasn’t until 1905 when the city was incorporated.

The city is relatively flat but surrounded by hills, which is where most of the residential homes are located.  The city itself faces the Purcell Mountains on the west and the Rocky Mountains on the north and east of the city.  Cranbrook is different from other cities in British Columbia in that is has been recorded for having the most sunshine hours in the province.  The area is fairly dry, and when the city does receive precipitation it is usually in the form of snow.  However, the area does have four distinct seasons.  Christian counselling Cranbrook, BC, addresses the spiritual and emotional help that is needed to overcome major hurdles in our lives.  Hiking, fishing, boating, and camping are some favorite pastimes of both residents and visitors to the area.  The skiing during the wintertime is one major attraction, particularly at Kimberley, Fernie, Lake Louise, Panorama, among other places.  There are also many golf courses and tourist facilities.  Fort Steele Heritage Town is cited as Cranbrook’s main ingredient for the local trade and convention industry.

Cranbrook is located in British Columbia, Canada. It has a land area of 32.00 square kilometers.  The population of Cranbrook is 21,308 people with 8,545 households . The population ranking for Cranbrook is #214 nationally and #33 for the province of British Columbia with a density of 626.60 people per sq km. Cranbrook therapists serve postal code: V1C.
