When trying to find the roots of Fontana, you don’t need to look any further than the Fontana Farms Ranch House.  It is an old farmhouse located on Pepper Avenue and was once part of Camp 1, which was a settlement that was established in the early 1900’s by B. Miller, a developer and farmer.  The workers and their families lived in the camp and planted vineyards and orange groves for Miller.  Miller is acknowledged as having founded Fontana. The city is committed to the improvement plans that they have put forth.  On the cities website, they list the different projects that are occurring throughout the city, which is only 36 square miles.  The different projects include projects being completed by the engineering department, public works department and redevelopment special projects department, which include projects on the Lewis Library and Technology Center, Fontana Center Stage, Miller Park Amphitheater, downtown façade rehabilitation program, among others.  There is also other information regarding the downtown revitalization task force.  Fontana has been working very hard to redevelop the downtown.  The Lewis Library and Technology Center will serve as a place for learning and growing for the residents of Fontana at any age and from any background.  The grand opening of the Library will be in April, 2008.  Fontana is working very hard to make this a community where everyone has the resources they need, embracing all ethnicities and backgrounds.¹
