In addition to the public schools, Upland Christian Schools offer private education from kindergarten through high school. The Upland Recreation Department offers a variety of programs for children, teenagers and adults as part of the National Park and Recreation Step Up To Health campaign. Among the many parks that offer family picnic areas and children's playgrounds is Cabrillo Park.1 Children delight in the Butterflies in May program offered at Magnolia Recreation Center each May. Magnolia Park is also the scene of a Children's Swap Meet in August. Every Thursday evening from April to October, a farmers market and street fair is held at the Town Square with kiddie rides, food and entertainment for the whole family. Family Services and Assistance Programs
Upland families who need shelter, clothing, and other support services can find the assistance they need at Foothill Family Shelter. The shelter provides homeless adults and children with temporary, rent-free housing for up to 120 days. Foothill also provides one year transitional housing, as well as permanent residence options. The Food Pantry and Clothing Closet provide necessities for families who can't afford them on their own. Parenting programs also help couples gain the skills they need to be effective parents.
