Fort Collins is located approximately 60 miles north of Denver and is a large college town, which is home to Colorado State University.   The city was founded as a military post in 1864, formerly known as Camp Collins. The area was established during the Indian Wars to protect the Overland mail route.  Settlers began relocating to this area.  The fort was decommissioned in 1867.  A counselor Fort Collins will help you break away from the painful stress you are under. Life can improve dramatically with the guidance of a therapist Fort Collins. The original site of the fort is now a historic site, known as “Old Town”.  The first population boom was experienced in 1872 with the establishment of the agricultural colony, leading hundreds of settler to arrive and develop the land south of the original downtown region.  A college was established in 1870.  The 1880’s experienced a lot of construction of homes and commercial buildings.  The different industries that the city engaged in were stone quarrying, sheep and sugar beet farming.

Even though Fort Collins was affected by the Great Depression, the city still experienced some steady growth.  It was after WWII when the population doubled and prospered.  This is a time when revitalization occurred in the city with new buildings including closing of the Great Western sugar factory.  Fort Collins has implemented a prohibition on alcoholic beverages from the 1890s till 1969 when student activism helped to end it.  The civil rights and anti-war activism increased tension within the city, which included burning of some building on the campus of Colorado State University.  The rapid growth continued through the late 20th century, expanding to the south of the city.  The city’s growth and subsequent revitalization of Old Town became a priority during the 1980s.  A Christian counselor Fort Collins CO helps clients who are seeking spiritual direction to resolve their personal issues.  A therapist Fort Collins will give you new tools to empower you to work through the issues and relieve the pain. The city was ranked #1 by Money magazine as one of the best places to live in America.
