Marriage and Couples Mental Health in South Florida

Families go through transitions when a child comes out as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. While social acceptance of these sexual orientations and gender identities is growing, some growing pains are still to be expected, and families need support during this time. South Florida Family Pride works with parents of LGBT children, and LGBT parents, providing advocacy, support, and fun community events.²

Sometimes, despite the best efforts of couples to solve their problems, it just doesn't work out. Knowing when to end a relationship, and navigating that transition can be harrowing, but it can be done healthily and with respect. The South Florida Divorced Parent and Separated Couple Support group helps separating individuals and couples make healthy choices and resolve conflicts during trying difficult time.³

Family Central, a non-profit childcare service provider and advocacy organization in Broward County offers Family Support Classes, aimed at training parents to deal with stressful situations appropriately, and provide a health home environment for children. For parents who need education on healthily interacting, nurturing and caring for their children, the Parent Education class seminar, taught by the Family Resource Center of South Florida, improves parent-child interactions in families deemed at-risk.
