Cornwall, Ontario is a pleasant city with a number of enticing options for visitors and residents. The Lamoureux Park along the Saint Lawrence River includes a marina, playground area for children, clock tower, and recreational walking trail. Inside the park resides the Civic Complex, with the Ed Lumley arena, an up-to-date ice skating rink that holds as many as 5800 spectators. Since 1998, the Cornwall Skateboard Park has provided hours of entertainment for visitors of all ages on its 3 quarter pipes, 4 ramps and fun box. Even if you do not skateboard, BMX trick bikes and in-line skates are welcome in the park. During the winter months, the Cornwall Aquatic Center offers a sizable six lane, 25 meter swimming pool as well as a two story tall water slide, leisure pool for young swimmers and a whirlpool.1 Admission fee is required, but the rate is very low for hours of afternoon water fun! Permanent residents may consider purchasing monthly admission passes.

Cornwall is one of the most well-rounded and advanced communities in Ontario, when you consider the size of this city. It is only a little over 23 square kilometers and it has a population of 59,000 or so. The citizens of this city are well educated and have access to many different resources. Current Initiatives

The city of Cornwall has been working to improve life in the city in every way possible. Recently, better healthcare services were made available, and parks were improved in order to give children a safe place to play. The schools have also been strengthened with better curriculum, safer environments, and more organizations and clubs to help students socialize. Throughout upcoming years, there are also plans to help businesses grow stronger and create jobs, in order to boost the economy, and they are working to improve the core commercial areas at the center of the city.4 These are very important changes that will help everyone who lives here, as well as many others who travel to Cornwall for work or shopping.
