My approach to psychotherapy integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness practices, and Somatic Experiencing to develop a deep connection between mind and body. I emphasize the importance of tuning into how the body experiences emotions and life events, recognizing that bodily sensations are key indicators of our emotional states. By addressing and accepting these emotions, people can open new pathways for handling life’s challenges. This method encourages not just coping, but thriving through a holistic understanding and acceptance of one’s feelings, leading to innovative solutions and healthier approaches to life's difficulties.

My approach involves drawing on various modalities (e.g., dialogic, narrative, solution-focused, emotion-focused) that fit the unique needs of clients. I hope to create an environment for clients where they feel a sense of safety to express their reflections, thoughts, and concerns. I take on a non-judgmental, non-expert stance and firmly believe that clients have everything that they need already within them- my role is to simply remind you of who you are or to help you discover who you would like to be through supportive, therapeutic conversations. If you are interested in learning more about my approach and to see if we would be a good fit, please contact me for a free consultation.

About Brantford, ON

Woodstock, Hamilton, Cambridge, North Dumfries, Brant, Norwich

Brantford is southwest of Ontario with an approximate population of around 90,000.  The city is located on the Grand River and sometimes referred to as the Telephone City since a famous former resident invented the telephone - Alexander Graham Bell.  The Neutral Nation, Attawandaron, occupied this area during the 17th century.  The settlement was destroyed when the Iroquois declared war in 1650, exterminating the Neutral Nation.  In 1784, Captain Joseph Brant and the Six Nations Indians were given a large land grant by the British Crown for their loyalty.  The name originally given was Brant’s ford.  It wasn’t until 1847 when the European settlers starting coming that the area was renamed to Brantford.  Brantford was officially incorporated in 1877.  The Mohawk Chapel which was part of the original native settlement remains as Ontario’s oldest Protestant church. The economy in Brantford consisted mostly of manufactured goods that were exported during the first half of the 20th century.  The city used to be a railroad hub in southern Ontario and is the deepest navigable point on the Grand River.  This helped the city to develop from a farming community to more of a blue collar industrial city.  As this developed the benefits of a Christian counselor Brantford, ON worked to help individuals find career direction and training for the new industry.  The agriculture implement industry was centered on companies like Massey-Harris, Cockshutt Plow Company, and Verity Plow.  This industry actually helped Brantford to sustain economic growth through most of the 20th century.  Unfortunately with the bankruptcies of White Farm Equipment and Massey-Ferguson and several other manufacturers, the city was seeing a steady decline in their economy during the 1980s and 1990s.  The upswing in the city’s economy has been helped by the completion of the Brantford to Ancaster section of highway as well as the relocation of Proctor & Gamble and Ferrero Spa to Brantford.
