Psychotherapy is a broader term to describe a number of treatment methods which can be used to help individuals with their mental health. Some of the treatments I utilize are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based (MCBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Culturally sensitive, Solution Focused Brief (SFBT), Narrative, Strength based, and Trauma Focused. The most common ailments that clients see me for are depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, abuse and self-esteem issues. Through my academic training and personal experience, I bring my clients a personal understanding of many of these issues.

Individuals often come to psychotherapy when the coping strategies they were previously using are no longer helpful, and potentially, they have become problematic or destructive. Together we will explore the areas of your life that are frustrating you or causing you pain, and/or discuss situations or relationships from the past that are still impacting your life today.

I take an eclectic approach to psychotherapy with my clients, as I want to meet you where you need support. My underlying ontology is psychodynamic, with a focus on attachment theory. But I draw on a number of theories to conceptualize your experience including holistic theory, feminist theory, self-determination theory, to name a few. Reach out for a free consultation to see if my approach is the right fit for your needs.

Do you have a junk drawer in your home? I like to think of therapy like emptying out and organizing your junk drawer. Trauma and stress disorganizes our brain. Memories and experiences are scrambled and coping skills are hidden. Therapy lets us empty out those drawers, put them in order, throw out the things we no longer need, and find the things we’ve been searching for.
