About Hamilton, ON

Lower City, Escarpment, Mountain, Ancaster, Dundas, Flamborough, Glanbrook, Stoney Creek, Beasley, Central, Durand, Corkton, North End, Westdale

The established town of Hamilton in the early 1800s had roads and streets on a grid pattern designated as East or West and North or South. In the mid to late 1800s prominent establishments came about with the Grand Lodge of Canada, a public library, the Right House department store, the first commercial telephone service in Canada, the first telephone exchange in the British Empire and the second telephone exchange in North America. Counsellor, Hamilton, ON, is a licensed professional fashioned to help you work through struggles in your life. The Pigott Building constructed in 1929 was the city’s first high-rise building.  In 2001 an amalgamation created a new Hamilton from the Regional Municipality of six cities, namely Hamilton, Ancaster, Dundas, Flamborough, Glanbrook and Stoney Creek.  The new city had an increased population of over thirty per cent.

In 1906 a violent strike was called in Hamilton due to grievances between the Cataract Power, Light and Traction Company and the employees of the Hamilton Street Railway.  In an attempt to continue the service of the street cars, there was property damage due to fire and a hail of missiles being thrown which destroyed buildings and the railway service.  Since the police department was unable to protect the public or private property, troops were enlisted from Toronto’s Stanley Barracks and London. A Hamilton Christian counsellor will help you work through those areas spiritually that you need assistance with. These reinforcements consisted of mounted police from the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, the Royal Canadian Dragoons and infantry from the Royal Canadian Regiment.  While facing a mob at City Hall, the Sheriff, in formal dress, read the Riot Act.  The mass of rioters dissolved only after police and soldiers went forward with clubs and bayonets.  Some rioters were sentenced later.
