Oakville is mostly made up of Northern European ethnicity with around 165,000 residents; however, is becoming more and more diverse due to its proximity to Toronto.  The age population in Oakville is younger than in other cities in the Greater Toronto Area.  The religious makeup of Oakville consists of around 80% stating themselves as Christian and the rest non-Christian religions or no religion at all. Oakville is governed by a town council that consists of a mayor and twelve councilors, with the town being divided into six different wards.  This is at the municipal level.  The Provincial and Federal levels of the government in Oakville, consists of two provincial ridings for both.
