Even though Thunder Bay is made up of two cities combined—Port Arthur and Fort William—the two communities have retained their separate identities.  Each area boasts separate central business districts and suburban areas.  The Bay and Algoma areas are more well-known areas with a large northern-European population that is centered on the Finnish Labour Temple.  Two of the older neighborhoods include Simpson-Ogden and the East End and are located in northern Fort William.  The creative abilities of your marriage counsellor will enlighten and surprise you.  Effective marriage counselling begins with a commitment to the therapy process.  Interestingly, there is an intercity between the two cities that connects the two.  There are several different neighborhoods around the area, with a couple in the rural communities, such as Vickers Heights and North McIntyre.  The economy is steady, due to the city being the largest city in Northwestern Ontario and the region’s commercial, medical and administrative center, with the largest employer’s being in the public sector.1 However, with the rising cost of electricity and the shift from shipping by boat and train to shipping by truck, along with the Free Trade Agreement has impacted the cities’ economy.

Regardless, the city has made available several different visitor attractions which help the city’s economy.  For instance, the biggest draw is Fort William Historical Park, which is a reconstruction of the fur trade post that was built in 1815.  The marina in Port Arthur brings many visitors to take in the view as well as gaze at the Sleeping Giant, a rock formation that looks like a sleeping giant.  There are also some amethyst mines in the area where people can search for their own gems.  Comprehensive and compassionate Christian marriage counselling revitalizes the relationship between both husband and wife.  Sweeping changes are possible, with the help of your family counsellor who is a trained marriage therapist unswerving in his or her commitment to your relationship. With Thunder Bay being named the Cultural Capital of Canada, there are plenty of cultural activities and centers to visit, from the Finnish Labour Temple to the Scandinavia House, the Italian Cultural Centre, the Polish Legion or the many other centers in town.  This area does not lack in opportunities to experience the diverse cultures in this great city.

Marriage and Couples Mental Health in Thunder Bay

Out of the more than 100,000 people living in the city of Thunder Bay, 56.4 percent of the population is married or living in a common law partnership. All marriages and partnerships have their own unique challenges, but a frequently occurring problem in many marriages is a breakdown in communication. Communication is important not only to stay abreast of a spouse's thoughts and experiences, but also in conflict resolution. Couples that communicate well usually have happy relationships, while partners who communicate poorly have relationships that lack vitality. Counseling is often necessary to improve a relationship when a breakdown in communication has occurred.

Many of their services are offered to the community at no or low cost. Some services are free to clients through EAP programs, health insurance benefits, victim programs and other programs funded by the government.
