Marriage and Couples Mental Health in Toronto
Although the average income for households in Toronto is relatively high compared with other Canadian provinces, standing at $69,156 as of 2005, not all families are as fortunate. According to Campaign 2000, 383,000 children and their families throughout Ontario live in poverty.2 Finances are a common stressor for families, particularly in low-income households. Low income is often associated with mental disorders that can last a lifetime, including increased risk for suicide, substance abuse, mood disorders and anxiety. If you or someone in your family suffers from mental health problems due to financial stress, you can find free information by calling the Ontario Mental Health Helpline at 866-531-2600.3

The Ontario Mental Health Helpline mentioned above can connect you with Woodgreen and other agencies that provide similar services.
