Keller is located in Texas near the hot spot of Dallas. The city's location is ideal for families with children and teenagers of all ages, providing immediate access to multiple popular attractions. Plan to spend an afternoon at Tornado Terry's Arcade. Here children as young as three up to adults are sure to love the amenities that range from games to air hockey. Simply pay a cover at the door and play an unlimited amount of time for an inexpensive price. For those wishing to enjoy the great outdoors, Johnson Road Park has everything needed for an excellent family bonding experience. Plan a picnic in the shade or watch your children enjoy the slides and jungle gym.1 Be sure to visit the Kimbell Art Museum located in the Fort-Worth area for an educational experience the entire family is sure to enjoy. To meet the educational needs of your children and teenagers, Friendship Elementary School, Fossil Ridge High School, and Bear Creek Intermediate School are a few of several schools within the area.

Mental Health in Keller

As the definition of family becomes ever more fluid, many who find themselves in the role of guardian aren’t biological parents. Grandparents in a Parenting Role is a support group in Keller, Texas for grandparents who find themselves taking on the role of parents again—for their grandchildren2. When grandparents become the primary caregivers, they face generational gaps, changing family dynamics, and often, changing relationships with their own children. Call (817) 337-6733 to connect with fellow grandparents, share knowledge, and encourage and support one another.

Stress can be destructive to both one’s physical and psychological well being. One way to reduce stress is to engage in a creative hobby; creative expression is used to promote healing, in a physical, emotional, and mental sense3. Taking part in classes like the adult You Can Paint! oil painting program at the City of Keller Parks and Recreation Department can be a way to express emotions in a healthy way, expand your social circle, and reduce your overall stress level. Call (817) 743-4050 to get started4.

Current Initiatives

God’s Company and Food For the Soul are a partnership dedicated to aiding the disadvantaged and homeless of Keller through food ministry. The two organizations conduct events throughout the year to collect food, clothing, and other necessities for the homeless via product and monetary donations, and then distribute these life saving supplies to those in desperate need. Their straightforward and practical approach and enthusiasm have been instrumental in motivating the community of Keller to come together to stop hunger in the region.
