From July 2010 to June 201, 1903 cases related to domestic violence were filed in the county.2 To create awareness and to help decrease domestic violence in the state, The Utah Domestic Violence Coalition (UDVC) was established. UDVC is active in West Jordan and helps citizens by providing support, assistance and education to people suffering from or those who have been witness to domestic violence. The UDVC is responsible for raising awareness about domestic violence by educating and training volunteers, conducting research and distributing grants provided by the local government. UDVC is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can be reached at the UDVC LINKLine at 1-800-897-LINK (5465) any time of day or night.3
Agencies working for victims of domestic violence in West Jordan look to their volunteers to help further their cause by educating people about the dangers of domestic violence and by providing support to victims.
