One of the best locations within the boundaries of Kenosha, Wisconsin is the many beach recreational areas. Local residents and visitors alike can pack up the kids and enjoy an afternoon of sun and surf along Lake Michigan. The five beach options include Alford Park, Southport Park, Simmons Island, Pennoyer Park and Eichelman Beach. Mom and dad should be prepared, as these beaches are not staffed with lifeguards. If you prefer to be on the water rather than in it, the Southport Marina offers full service boat slips as well as shower, laundry and restroom facilities. Women and Children's Horizons offers a variety of assistance programs for women who have experienced domestic violence. The organization offers legal support and advocacy services, security planning, and support groups. Emergency shelter is available, as are transitional living quarters for homeless women and children. Specialized programs for children are available as well.
