A respected therapist for almost 20 years, I specialize in
individual, couple and sex therapy. My style is calm, gentle, and
direct, focused on helping you achieve meaningful change quickly. My
skills lie in listening carefully for what you have not yet been able to say, and
in asking thought-provoking questions that bring new perspective to your
experience and re-connect you to yourself and each other.
Trained at the University of Guelph Couple and Family Therapy Program, I have studied extensively in Canada, the US and Europe. I now teach locally and internationally, and supervise the work of other therapists.
As
a specialized couple therapist I still work with individuals. What
is unique is the consistent focus on relationships I bring to our
conversations. My aim is to support you to make important decisions thoughtfully and with care, and to strengthen you and your relationships regardless of whether you are together or apart.
Though not the only area of specialization I offer, sex therapy/sexuality therapy is one aspect of the way I can help you and your relationship. Sex therapy can help you find solutions to problems in your sexual relationship. It also goes beyond fixing problems and is concerned with the important questions our sexual relationships lead us to ask: what makes me feel alive? fulfilled? What inspires me? Am I happy? I recognize that it can be awkward to talk about our sexual relationships and I use humour and playfulness to create ease. After almost 20 years, there is very little you could say that would shock or offend me, or that I would judge. Lately, I have been helping many couples rebuild
after an infidelity or other breach of trust. My services are truly inclusive of the range of sexual diversity that exists, including just not wanting to be sexual at all.
I
offer two locations: an old cottage-style home near the lake in South Etobicoke
at the border of Mississauga, and an office by the Dupont Subway Station in
downtown Toronto. I recognize that choosing a therapist is a personal
decision and that my style does not fit everyone. If we aren't the right fit, I
will help you find someone else who is.
