Pittsburgh is the second largest city in Pennsylvania, with around 313,000 residents in the city, and around 2.5 million in the greater metropolitan area. The city is known as the city of bridges with 446 bridges due to the three different rivers that flow through the city.1 The climate in Pittsburgh is one of colder temperatures in the winter and warm temperatures in the summer, and receives a lot of precipitation throughout the year. This is definitely a city where you can find an array of cultural activities for the whole family. For instance, there is the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Opera, and the River City Brass Band. While this may seem a bit boring for kids, it is definitely a cultural experience that they could learn to enjoy. There is also a youth symphony that would have musical performances geared towards the younger patrons. The Pittsburgh Ballet is also great to visit, particularly during the holiday seasons when the Nutcracker is performed.
