Practising since 1997, I have a specialized clinical Master’s Degree in Couple and Family Therapy and I'm a Registered Psychotherapist and a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist.

A decision to enter therapy is usually about wanting some kind of change in your life. I believe that change can occur through a collaborative conversation which allows new thoughts, emotions and behaviours to emerge, be explored and “tried on”. I will accept your story and life choices without judgment, and will work with you to develop an environment of trust in the therapy room. I use a lot of Cognitive Behavioural strategies (changing the way you think), Solution Oriented, Emotionally Focused and Narrative Therapies, and EEG Neurofeedback. Therapy can result in you seeing yourself, your story or problem in a new way, and it can lead to greater calm and productive focus. Therapy is specifically geared to the needs and goals which you identify.

I tend to ask a lot of questions, rather than just listen passively or make suggestions (that's what your friends are for). As you respond to my questions, we move to a deep understanding of where the barriers to happiness and change are, and where these barriers come from. At the beginning, I will ask about a wide range of things, because I want to get the “big picture” about your life history and the people around you, as well as a clear picture of what it’s like to be you (your thoughts and emotions). As we move forward and I know your deep inner processes and triggers, our work becomes more focused on creating and cementing the wanted change in the areas you have identified. I teach coping strategies and wellness and emotional regulation techniques.

Because therapy is a based on the relationship between us, it looks different for different people. Therapy can be very supportive, and it can also be challenging.

My clients tell me that they feel supported by me, and that they appreciate how active I am in the therapy room. I work a lot with relationships, anxiety, depression and parenting issues. I have a website and blog, where I write about relationship and mental health issues.

I'm excited to offer EEG Neurofeedback as a treatment.
