Current Initiatives

The Missouri Department of Health's Trauma Initiative is intended to raise awareness of the emotional impacts inflicted upon victims of exploitation, domestic violence, and those who have a threatened sense of safety. The initiative also seeks to educate the public about ongoing issues that trauma sufferers face, including an increased likelihood of mental illness, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, and self-harm. Promoting resiliency is the primary focus of the initiative's recovery-based programs, which seek to provide evidence-based treatment programs for child and adult victims.5
