Life is a journey and counselling is a small part of that journey that helps us see the bigger picture, thus leading us towards wellness and contentment with who we are as individuals and with others.
Sylvia is committed to walk with you through that part of your journey where you might feel stuck, individually or relationally. Her approach is client-centred and her sincerity, warmth and compassion bring a safe, non-judgmental and welcoming environment to the therapy setting. Together with the client, goals are set at the beginning of therapy.
Sylvia will work closely with clients to help them get in touch with their feelings, thoughts and behaviours and will coach them to become more aware of their patterns and cycles. Empowering clients towards gaining a more balanced perspective of who they are as individuals and how they relate to others is one of the benefits of counselling that Sylvia offers.
For Couples, Relationships and Marriages, a number of areas are addressed:

Sylvia has had her Private Practice since 2004 and has also worked in a full time capacity at Unionville Alliance meeting with clients from different ethnic, cultural, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds. She has also co-lead Support Groups and Pre-Marital Classes. She also has 20 years of Home Care and Hospital Visitations.
Sylvia is a Registered Psychotherapist with the CRPO and a Marriage & Family Therapist and Clinical member of the Canadian Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. She received her Master of Divinity, Clinical Couneslling Major, from Tyndale University, Toronto and her Bachelor of Arts from Alexandria University. She also attends regular Seminars, Workshops and Training such as CBT, EFT, Gottman, ADHD, Depression and Anxiety, and Solution Focused Therapy. Sylvia has had training supervised by AAMFT Clinical Supervisors in CBT, EFT, Solution Focused and Systems Theory. She also received her Certification of Solution Focused Therapy from the University of Toronto (Continuing Education Program). Sylvia also assists in teaching students who are majoring in Clinical Counselling and who are working towards their Master Degree at Tyndale University, Toronto. She also co-ordinates and assists in the Internship Process of students looking for placements.
