Personal Biography
Barb is a Registered Professional Counsellor and an active member of the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association. She also holds certification in the Satir Transformational Systemic Family Therapy Training Program ( http://www.cpca-rpc.ca/). An Externship in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy ( Vancouver Couple and Family Institute). She also holds an Early Childhood Education Diploma NNEB (U.K.).
Barb has had over twenty years of experience working with individuals and groups at both the private and corporate level.She is also a professional Facilitator having had long term contracts with the Fraser Health Board and has led many women's empowerment programs, addiction recovery groups, and Transformational Leadership classes. Working with Couples in Private Practice using the EFT model is also an area that Barb really enjoys.
Using a blend of compassion, spontaneity, patience and humor she attempts, through an integrated approach, to find something meaningful for every client.
From a collaborative and strengths based perspective, she meets clients , in a non-judgmental atmosphere, offering safety, professionalism, and confidentiality.The benefit for her clients is a focus on real solutions for their problems. Being a mature adult Barb has had many life experiences herself to draw on. Her realistic approach coupled with a very intuitive nature give her an edge that can not be taught by any school or course.Barb really believes that who you are as a person first is probably the most important factor in being an effective therapist and counsellor.
Barb has raised four children in a blended family. She lives in beautiful Ladner with her husband and youngest daughter. Her office is in Ladner, centrally located with plenty of free parking. She also has office space in the central Vancouver area.
