My approach is tailored to the needs of my clients. I use traditional talk therapy as well as creative arts therapies, mind-body, and mindfulness techniques to help clients decrease anxiety and depression, improve their relationships, manage stress, make difficult decisions, cope with life challenges, and enhance creativity and productivity. I value the unique ways in which we each embody our own life experiences, biology, culture, and social environment. Using personalized techniques, I offer individual, couples, and family therapy for children and adults.
Whether you are looking for a quiet, empathic listener or seeking active, solution-focused support, I will bring empathy, flexibility, and a variety of skills as we work together to identify and achieve your therapeutic goals.
Background & Interests. While studying ballet and modern dance and performing as a dancer, I became interested in the intricate connections between our minds and bodies. This inspired me to study dance/movement therapy and then to study and practice yoga and massage.
One focus of my doctoral work was the impact of brain development in early life upon emotional functioning and regulation throughout life and recent attempts to integrate psychodynamic theories with findings from interdisciplinary research in psychology, psychobiology, and neurobiology.
I incorporate my background and interests in psychodynamic psychotherapy, sensorimotor psychotherapy, creative arts (art, play, and dance/movement), and mindful awareness practices into my work with clients.
