About Me Professionally
About Me Personally

Let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I came to the San Francisco Bay Area with a lot of hope, but eventually became aware that I seemed to lack an inner road map that others seemed to have.  After several painful attempts to create the life I wanted all by myself, I decided to try therapy.  I was surprised when it actually worked. I have since found that like me, many who start therapy are skeptical that lasting positive change can come from seeing a therapist. What I have come to believe from working with clients throughout the years is that change is always possible, if you are willing to work for it.
 About Me Professionally
I have developed an approach to treatment that includes working with concerns about the self, codependency and spiritual issues. I received my Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Rehabilitation Counseling from San Francisco State University and began my private practice in 2000.  From 2004 through 2007, I studied Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies.  Since then, I have focused my studies and my practice on helping people to reach their potential, both as individuals and as people in relationship with others.

Before going into private practice, I served as the first executive director of
Our Family Coalition, a non-profit organization serving the needs of LGBT families.  In 1987, I received certification in Drug and Alcohol recovery studies (UC Berkeley Extension, Level 1,1987), and have counseled substance abusing clients from that time until the present.  While in graduate school, I founded the Alternative Family Project, providing family counseling services to non-traditional families and their children.
