I am originally from Chicago and moved out to Southern California to continue my graduate work in psychology. I am a Marriage & Family Therapist licensed by the State of California. I earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology at Roosevelt University in Illinois where I graduated with high honors. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Santa Ana, California. I am a doctoral candidate for a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with a specialty track in Child and Adolescent Psychology at Argosy University with the goal of becoming licensed as a Clinical Psychologist. I have training and experience in providing assessment and treatment for both short- and long-term individual and family psychotherapy services to a socio-culturally diverse adult, child, and adolescent (ages 18-24) out-patient population diagnosed with major psychiatric disorders, attentional disturbances, anxiety, depression, other severe affective disorders, psychosis, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, substance abuse and dependence.

I work with adult individuals as well as children, couples and families with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship and parenting issues. I have training and experience in play therapy. I also have specialized training and experience working with adolescents and young adults and the mounting stresses and conflicts they experience transitioning into adulthood.  Using a collaborative approach, I work together with the client and their psychiatrist (if they are seeing one or are in need of a referral for medication) and/or their treatment or recovery center for optimum comprehensive care.

My experience also includes working with victims of physical, sexual, verbal, and psychological abuse. Through individual or family counseling, we can work towards changing attitudes, and the behaviors that perpetuate domestic violence, while empowering individuals and strengthening families and addressing relationship issues affected by the abuse.

I also have experience assisting in the education and prevention of acute psychiatric episodes or substance abuse relapses requiring hospitalization, and help clients to lessen the debilitating effects of mental illness and/or substance abuse. I am able to collaborate with a treatment team of social workers, psychiatrists, nurses, and psychologists to develop individual and group treatment plans.
