My passion is to help individuals like you find balance and integration in your personal life and to grow in your relationships.

I have lived in Keswick for 25+ years, raising 5 children and being involved in the community. Through therapy, I have learned to experience less stress, cope with PTSD, be more mindful and would enjoy sharing practical strategies with you. Having been through many life experiences helps me to understand and support you as you struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, loss, self-identity,  trauma, parenting, relationships and life transitions.

As a Registered Psychotherapist with CRPO, I have a Master Degree in Clinical Counselling, My internship was at a family practice in Cambridge. I have studied with the Traumatology Institute and specialize in trauma counselling from childhood experiences, car accidents, and PTSD (military and other influences). I have developed a creative individualized therapy which offers trauma survivors possibility of  stabilization, hope, processing of memories and integration of heart, mind and body.

My practice focuses on building bridges of connection within oneself, with others and with the world beyond us. Through listening, questioning, clarifying, teaching and exploring options together, we will explore effective strategies to experience less stress and more confidence in your life. My therapeutic philosophy includes Attachment Theory, Solution Focused Theory, CBT, EFT and Focusing. Understanding of Family Systems are encouraged in the process of therapy and family members are included, if so desired.  Spirituality in counselling is available as an option.

The focus in counselling is to work as a team! I will listen to your challenges, celebrate your strengths, help you clarify steps to reach your goals, and explore coping strategies with you to deal with limitations.  If needed, we will explore other resources in the community to help support you in your life and relationships. Most of all, my office is confidential to give you a safe and private place to voice your concerns.

I offer creative workshops and presentations on mental health issues, bridges of communication, social media and other topics to educate, serve and encourage our community. These sessions can be a one-time session or a series of interactive presentations in social, spiritual, business, personal and educational venues. I have presented at schools, gyms, homes, churches, and social clubs. "Coping with Stress" has been a very popular topic in the past few years.

My personal interests are reading, music, entertaining friends, knitting and sewing, scrapbooking, hiking, my 5 children and 9 grandchildren, and supporting friends and family through grief and challenges.

My life motto is "Live creatively, Love passionately and Learn continually to build bridges in your life."

Give me a call at 905-535-1106 or email me at di.scott.counsellor@gmail.com  to set up a session to share your challenges, explore meaning, and experience relationship and acceptance in your life in a new way. When you make a request to book a presentation or workshop, let me know the topic that is of interest to you.
