My Approach to Therapy

I work with you whether as an individual,  a couple or a family  to develop a relaxed and therapeutic relationship in which you can achieve personal growth, relationship growth and self acceptance.  I will help you to explore the  concerns that led you to contact me. Together we  will collaborate to find positive ways to utilize your inner resources to help you respond to the challenges life presents.  Our discussions can help you to organize your thoughts and feelings and can lead you to a greater understanding of yourself and the situation.  This can make it easier for you to make decisions about how you might want to proceed toward resolution.

My Background

I am a registered psychotherapist. I hold a Masters in Education with a counselling focus.  I am a registered marriage and family therapist and an accredited family mediator.  I hold a certificate in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and a Certificate in Parenting Coordination. I have been providing compassionate counselling/therapy since 1992.  I have been trained in various models of therapy including Client Centered, Humanistic, Solution Focused, Narrative and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. How Therapy can Help

Seeing a therapist can be helpful when you come up to any challenge in life whether that challenge is minor or seems insurmountable, or devastating.  Therapy is most often brief in duration. Sometimes just a single session and other times from 5 to 8 sessions,  can help you to discover your inner strengths and options for meeting life challenges.  Therapy can help you to gain a greater understanding of yourself and to develop intentional responses to the challenges in life.
