Imagine being in a place where you feel safe, supported and accepted, in a way that moves you to tell your story to someone who listens to you fully and really hears what you are saying. Most of us rarely experience this. However, this is the experience I strive to create for each of my clients: a space of understanding, curiosity and hope, one that naturally leads to the uncovering of answers to life’s difficulties, to the resolving of the anxieties that surround you.

Education and Experience

I am registered (RSW) and trained at a Master's level in the area of Social Work (MSW), with a clinical therapeutic focus on individuals, couples and groups. My experience encompasses the areas of mental health, eating disorders, anxiety, addictions, grief/loss, trauma, family and couple conflict, poverty, depression and relational/communication issues, through the training and work I have done in hospital settings and at various counselling agencies.

Therapy Influences

As a therapist, I am guided and influenced by several therapy styles and theories:
  • Relational Psychodynamic Therapy (the importance of the therapist and client relationship in guiding the direction of therapy)
  • Somatic Experiencing (connecting to the body for resolving trauma)
  • Indigenous Social Work/Holism (healing and balance as a whole person on the emotional, mental, spiritual and physical levels)
  • Nonviolent Communication (resolving of difficult communication cycles through a deeper understanding of feelings and needs)
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (connecting to the vulnerability in ourselves and others for developing better relationships)
  • Attachment Theory (the impact of our closest relationships on each of us)
  • Ecological Systems Theory (how couples, families and communities adjust to create systems of balance/imbalance)
  • Social justice (a political understanding of inequalities and striving to create a more just world)
  • Feminism (we are all healthier people when we are striving for greater equality in our relationships)

Please do not hesitate to call or email me to discuss any questions you may have about therapy or about arranging an appointment. I would be glad to speak with you!
