My approach is friendly, down to earth, respectful and intentional. I work to help you experience meaningful, lasting change.

Maybe you need some support to get through a tough spot, maybe you realize you are stuck in a rut, you feel alone, hurting or you feel hopeless about where things are going. I can help you.

When you come for counselling with me, I will welcome you where you are at. You will be seen as fully human - not just a list of problems to be fixed.  My role is to come alongside you, without judgement.  I want to sit with you and really know you and hear your story.  I aim to gently enter into your subjective experience as it is in the now.  I offer a caring, accepting presence and clinical understanding to help you cope, change and feel better.

In our sessions, I hope you will feel totally free to talk about what you need to.  You will have a secure place to slow down and sort through the things that weigh you down and see problems from new angles. This can give you breathing room; space to consider what’s happening and allow you new options to respond. This can be immensely helpful.

The clients I see are real people facing real world difficulties. Some of the key areas of my practice focus on addressing:

  • PTSD or Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
  • Trauma related to accidents and abuse (both recent and in childhood)
  • Complex PTSD / Borderline Personality Disorder
  • Relational concerns
  • Shame
  • Anxiety & Depression
  • Pervasive Loneliness
  • Bipolar & Schizoaffective Disorder
  • Support for those Affected by Family Mental Illness

My style is flexible and strengths-based.  I adapt my method to meet the needs of the person I am working with each session.

Some of the treatment approaches I use are AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), OEI (or Observed Experiential Integration), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and EFT (or Emotionally Focussed Therapy for couples).

I would love to help.  You don’t have to struggle alone.
