Heritage Counseling Center, Inc (HCCI). began in 2000 to be a resource to its surrounding communities including churches, schools and medical offices for Christian based professional, clinical counseling.  It is our goal to provide a safe and healing-focused relationship with every person seeking counseling.

Since its inception, HCCI has developed a diversified professional staff of men and women to treat a wide variety of personal issues people present. Each therapist is committed to the proper integration of Biblical and Clinical knowledge.  The ultimate goal is to graciously speak truth, which begins with a scriptural standard and tested with psychological skill and experience. 

Here is a listing of every counselor along with their individual bios.

Scott Hendrickson, LCPC

Scott Hendrickson is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) providing counseling therapy for troubled individuals, couples, and families.  Formerly an ordained minister, he also serves as a consultant to Chicago area churches for family ministry development.  It is his calling to be a resource and helper to ministers and others in need.

As a licensed clinical professional counselor, former pastor to families with children, and founder of Heritage Counseling Center, Inc, Scott has provided therapeutic counseling to those suffering from a wide array of spiritual, emotional and psychological problems.  He has counseled children, parents, students and other individuals, recruited and trained ministry volunteers and creatively expanded the effectiveness of ministry to families.

Scott holds a B.S. in Pastoral Studies from North Central University (1984) and a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Trinity International University (1997).  He is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.  Scott and his wife Denise have two sons, David and Alex.

Tracy Bell, LCPC

Tracy Bell is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. She has over 15 years of experience helping families and individuals cope with life issues. For more than ten years, Tracy worked in a community mental health setting assisting adults and children with mental illness to learn skills to manage their illnesses in order to lead productive lives.  For the past six years, Tracy has been working in private practice with children, adults, families and couples on issues of coping skills, relationship skills, parenting skills, anger management, illness management, spiritual issues and marriage and pre-marriage issues.  Tracy is certified in the Prepare/Enrich Program and also has experience facilitating groups offering help to those dealing with divorce, domestic violence and abuse issues, and spiritual issues.

 Tracy co-founded the Passageway Program, which integrates psychology and scripture to teach tools to have healthier relationships with God and others.  Tracy's passion is to partner with people to learn to reject the strongholds that have been shaping their lives in negative ways, and to assist them to see God's truth of who they are---His children, created in His image. 

 Tracy received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Illinois State University in 1993 and her Master’s Degree in Counseling from National Louis University in 2003.  She has been married since 1994 and has two children. 

Nicole Majka, LCPC

Nicole Majka is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Certified Domestic Violence Professional (CDVP). Nicole has worked at Family Shelter Service in Wheaton where she worked with women, children and adolescent victims of Domestic Violence in outpatient as well as shelter facilities. Nicole has worked at Heritage Counseling center since September 2006.

While active in eating disorder awareness at the College of Dupage (COD), Nicole also developed and co-facilitated an Eating Disorder support group at the college. She has spoken to high school students on the risks, dangers and treatment of eating disorders. In addition, she has been active as a leader in the Growth and Encouragement Support Ministry focusing specifically on eating disorders at Calvary Church.

Nicole has experience working with domestic violence, child, adolescent and adult counseling, crisis intervention, eating disorders, PTSD, trauma, and abuse. Nicole has developed and co-facilitated groups dealing with eating disorders, parenting, women and children who are victims of domestic abuse and divorce care for middle school children. Nicole also works with individuals, families, children and adolescents who are struggle with depression, bipolar, divorce, grief and loss issues.

Nicole is committed to bringing awareness as well as help victims of Domestic Violence, trauma, abuse and individuals struggling with Eating Disorders.

Nicole received her Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education from DePaul University in 1996 and her Masters in counseling degree from National Louis University in 2006. Nicole is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy level 1 certified which entails utilizing horses as a tool in the therapy process. Nicole is also trained in EMDR which is used to treat complex trauma. Nicole is a member of the ACA and the American Association of Christian Counselors.

Larry Navey, LCPC

Larry Navey is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with extensive experience in providing services for children/adolescents, families, couples, and individuals.  Further, Larry has worked extensively with individuals and families impacted by severe mental illness, providing understanding, insight, and practical knowledge. 

Larry has a passion for integrating psychological knowledge and Biblical truth.  He believes that competent Christian counseling must incorporate strong psychological knowledge filtered through the lens of Biblical truth and the Christian worldview.  Larry is specifically gifted in leading others to a deeper, more intimate knowledge of God. 

Larry holds a BS degree from Columbia International University in Columbia, S.C. where he double majored in Biblical studies and psychology.  He also holds a MA Clinical Psychology degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. 

Rachael DeWitt, LCSW

Rachael DeWitt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) specializing in child / adolescent and family therapy. Rachael’s experience includes work as a school social worker, where she has counseled students with disabilities, including learning disabilities, mental impairment, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorders, behavioral difficulties and emotional disorders. She frequently works with children and adolescents on issues such as anger management, social skill development and coping skills for dealing with anxiety, depression and areas of disability. Rachel also works with parents and teachers and does group therapy.

Believing that families are under attack and are often not the source of strength and security that God intended them to be, Rachael seeks to strengthen families in order to build healthy environments in which children and adolescents can develop and thrive. She is especially focused on helping families in conflict due to diagnoses of learning and emotional/behavioral disorders, as well as issues related to single-parent households, blended families and adoption.

Rachael holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois-Chicago, and a Bachelors Degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Illinois Association of School Social Workers (IASSW). Rachael and her husband Peter were married in July of 1998.

Roberta Vondrak, LCPC

Roberta Vondrak is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) providing Christian counseling for individuals, couples and adolescents.  She has experience with issues such as depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, abuse, codependency, marriage and parenting as well as substance abuse and dependence.

With her twelve years of counseling experience, Roberta has worked in residential, inpatient and day program settings as well as outpatient.  She has a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Elmhurst College (1992) and a Master’s degree in counseling psychology from St. Xavier University (1997).

Roberta is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), the Biblical Counseling and Spiritual Formation Network; the Illinois Counseling Association and Illinois Mental Health Counseling Association.  In addition, she is currently in the process of completing a diploma in Biblical Counseling through the AACC.

Roberta and her husband, Ross, have been married since 1976 and have two adult daughters, Sandy and Christi, a son-in-law, Josh, and grandson, Ian.

Mary Karalis, LCPC

Mary Karalis is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).  She has over 10 years of experience working at a community behavioral health center with children, adolescents, adults, and families.  Mary has experience providing individual and group therapy for individuals with bipolar, depression, anxiety, panic disorders, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, and substance abuse/dependence. Mary has also worked providing counseling at an inpatient behavioral health unit

Mary has 3 years of experience providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy, a specialized individual and group therapy treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder.  Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a skill building and processing therapy which address self-harming, low self-esteem, emotional dysregulation and ineffective interpersonal relationships for adults and adolescents. 

Mary has a special interest in working with adolescents, women, and couples/families who are struggling with divorce, co-dependency, grief, marital or family conflict, parenting, mood disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder, adult children of alcoholics, and with those struggling with their faith in God in the midst of loss and hardships. 

Mary holds a Masters Degree in Professional Counseling from Olivet Nazarene University and a Bachelors Degree from Western Illinois University.  She also has an Addictions Counseling certificate from College of DuPage.  Mary is married and has two adult children.

Sarah Witt, AMFT

Sarah Witt is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) specializing in couples and families. Sarah has experience counseling couples in areas of communication and intimacy, parenting, divorce, marital or family conflict, addictive behaviors, and mood disorders. Her experience also includes working with young children and adolescents on a variety of issues, including behavioral and emotional disorders, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, anger management, social development, anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, and family and social adjustment issues. Sarah works with adult individuals who are working through issues of anxiety, depression, bipolar, panic disorders, relationship issues, esteem, career development, and unemployment issues.

It is Sarah’s passion to come along side of couples/families/individuals and help give them the tools needed to experience a life of wholeness and joy. Sarah seeks to strengthen the individuals she works with by integrating psychology and God’s Truth so that they are able to lead healthy, meaningful lives.

Sarah holds a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. She is currently working towards her licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is married and has three children.
