Approach:

My approach to helping people is mindfulness based, client centred & collaborative. Because every person is different, I combine therapeutic techniques & modalities to suit the needs of each individual. I will assist you in gaining insight into the root of what brings you to therapy, while simultaneously helping you to find solutions & get more balance in your life.

Practice description:

In anything we do, the hardest step is the first one. For this reason I offer a free, no obligation, first session in order for you to meet me, & see if we “click.” Seventy-five percent of successful therapy is the relationship between client & therapist. I am able to make that connection with compassion, empathy, & humour. I offer you a safe place where your voice will be heard & respected.

I work primarily with individual adults. I also offer workshops and group counselling. I provide therapy for those diagnosed with a mental illness, and supportive counselling for life's day to day complexity. I also work with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse to help them move on from past hurts, & lead a more balanced & rewarding life. I offer short-term, long-term, & crisis counselling, & recognize that your time is valuable & needs to be focussed on your therapeutic goal.

Fees:

My fee is $110/session.  My practice is supervised by a registered psychologist, & my services are fully or partially covered by most extended health care benefit/insurance plans.  You will need to contact your benefits provider or insurance company to determine whether you require a doctor's referral prior to starting counselling.  If you will be paying for counselling yourself, you do not need a referral.  If you are on ODSP or other fixed low income, we can discuss what you can afford to pay at your first session.

Remember, if you are struggling with some aspect of life, an understanding & compassionate listener is only a phone call away.
