Camas is a city in Clark County, Washington. With a population of 19,355, it is a relatively small city with the feel of a quaint small town. Officially incorporated on June 18, 1906, the city is named after the camas lily, a plant with an onion-like bulb prized by Native Americans who originally lived in the area. Advanced programs are available at all grade levels in the district and provide highly capable students with opportunities to develop higher-ordered skills such as analysis and problem solving. Pre-AP programs in middle school and AP programs in high school offer highly rigorous studies to challenge even the most gifted students.4 The district's special services department is charged with providing educational support for children with special needs.
