About Me
My Approach
I employ a relational approach to working with individuals, couples, and families. This means more than that I value relationships. It means that one of my primary goals is to develop and nurture a meaningful and collaborative therapeutic relationship with you, based on empathy, authenticity, and acceptance of who you are, as a person, a couple, or a family. I want you to experience the therapeutic relationship as a safe haven, in which you experience the security to freely explore your issues. I believe that relationships matter because relationship matters--relationship with one's self and with others.
My Training
I completed my graduate-level training in the Master of Counselling (MC) program at ACTS Seminaries, the Graduate School of Theological Studies of Trinity Western University. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #2997) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, and am working toward my professional status as a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist.
My Experience
I have been in private practise since May 2007, working with individuals, couples, and families. I also assist the Director of the Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program at ACTS Seminaries in helping therapists-in-training hone their advanced counselling skills.
I, with three of my fellow graduates, was a co-founder of Pathways Counselling Group, located in Langley, BC. Pathways Counselling Group ministered to the diverse needs of families who may be struggling with the complex issues facing the contemporary family. I also served for two years as the Pastoral Counsellor at a church in the Tri-Cities area, where I ministered to the mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual needs of the local community.
