I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I have a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology, a Masters Degree in Health Education from the University of Maryland and am a Certified Hypnotherapist from the Banyan Hypnosis Centre of Training.
I have additional training in Bowen Family Systems Therapy from Living Systems Inc in West Vancouver, Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy from the Satir Institute of the Pacific, Traumatic Incident Reduction, Systematic Training for Effective Parenting from the Adler School, and additional Hypnotherapy training from the BC Association of Clinical Hypnotherapy
My practice focusses on working with adults and teens for Individual Counselling and with Couples for Marriage/Couples Counselling.
My style is compassionate, straightforward and useful. Many of my clients tell me they begin to feel better right away.
"I find it very rewarding to see clients move from lifelong patterns that are uncomfortable feeling like they can't into new positive ways of being, whether it's losing weight, stopping smoking, resolving panic and anxiety or improving relationships".
I am successful in helping clients resolve; anxiety/panic, fears, stress, phobias, grief, anger, relationship challenges (personal and work related), emotional eating, depression, sleep disorders and coping with chronic conditions.
I have the ability to assess what a client is needing and create a specialized program to help her clients make lasting change, whether it is flying free of fear, driving over bridges, speaking in public, enjoying relationships in new ways or any number of positive outcomes. My unique combination of education and experience results in her client's ability to enjoy these changes.
I also have a special interest in assisting athletes overcome sport performance anxiety and enhance competition success. As an avid equestrian and animal lover, I competed successfully as a child to early adulthood, I understand the importance of calm, focussed confidence during practice and performance. I have helped athletes who compete successfully at the regional, national and international level.
I also have a background in wellness/heath/fitness, having designed and carried out programs for the military to community centres as well as individual clients wanting to enhance their optimum health and well being. The mind and body are connected with ongoing feedback from one to the other. Creating a balance in optimum health sets the path for fulfillment in all of life.
It is very important to me that you begin to feel better right away. Many issues resolve in 4-6 sessions.
