About Me

I am a Registered Psychotherapist specializing in individual, and family therapy, I maintain a private practice in Cobourg, Ontario which is within Northumberland County.

With over 10 years experience as a therapist, and as a graduate of McGill and Lethbridge University specializing in Counselling Psychology: Positive Psychology, I currently work with a broad spectrum of clients. Among my areas of expertise are anxiety, depression, panic, grief, loss, adjustment, anger, body image, disordered eating, stress, burnout, caregiver stress, chronic pain, and acquired brain injury.

My Approach
I employ a combination of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and solution-focused methods. My action-oriented therapeutic approach provides support and practical feedback to help you effectively address personal life challenges. I explore past events only as they are relevant, but will not dwell on the past; instead, I am interested in helping you stay in the present and focus on moving towards creating the kind of future you can be excited for. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach. With compassion and understanding, I work with you to help you build on your strengths and attain the personal growth you are committed to accomplishing.
I take a holistic wellness approach, as I believe that your overall lifestyle influences your mental health. I will address and offer strategies to improve your bio-psycho-social wellbeing. For example, proper nutrition, quality sleep habits, benefits of regular exercise, the importance of a healthy friend/family support network, and leisure activities that are rewarding and re-energizing.

I can offer you keen insight and effective strategies to manage Anxiety. This is the most common issue and can take on many forms: panic attacks, phobias, Obsessive Compulsive tendencies, Social anxiety. You are not alone AND  it is also very treatable. I like to provide you with a solid understanding of what anxiety is and why it stays around for so long, as well as offer practical tools to manage your symptoms so that you can go back to leading a full and healthy life.
I have also worked with many people suffering from various degrees of Depression--the feeling of lack of motivation, tiredness, irritability, and lack of hope. I can help to get you back on track and regain a sense of control and optimism.
Another important area is Grief/Loss, many of us feel lost and overwhelmed when we lose someone close to us, I will be there to offer support, be an active listener, and help you through the tough times with compassion and caring.
My other areas of expertise involve: anger management, family stress, disordered eating/body image, chronic pain, and injury.
