Dr. Kathleen Reay, Registered Clinical Counsellor has over 22 years experience in clinical counselling, parent education, consulting, academic research, program development, and guest speaking. In private practice Kathleen has gained extensive experience with a wide variety of personal and relationship problems which are reflected in the scope of services offered. Kathleen has a Ph.D. degree in Psychology, a M.A. in Counselling Psychology, a B.A. in Psychology, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Family Studies. Kathleen became the director of the International Institute for Parental Alienation Studies in 2011, a prestigious research and educational organization for professionals and the general public. Kathleen was a keynote speaker at the 2011 Canadian Symposium for Parental Alienation Syndrome in Montreal, Quebec. In 2010, she was honored to achieve Diplomate status with the
American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress (AAETS). The Diplomate
distinction is a prestigious credential that was awarded to Kathleen by
the AAETS in recognition of her experience in working with numerous
survivors of traumatic events and/or crisis management, as well as
for her knowledge, training and level of education. Kathleen is also EMDR Certified (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing - both basic and advanced training levels) for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other psychological issues plus is also certified in Critical Incident Stress Management by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. She is a member of the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors, the Canadian Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association, the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, the Association of Family and Concilliation Courts, EMDRIA United States, EMDR Canada and the National Center for Crisis Management. Kathleen has appeared on Vancouver radio talk shows and on the Knowledge Network. Her work has also been featured in regional newspapers and a nation-wide parent educators magazine. Kathleen and her husband have been happily married for over 30 years, have two adult daughters, a grandson, two yellow labs and a kitten. Her office is conveniently located in downtown Penticton on a bus route and is wheelchair accessible. She's currently presenting seminars on the highly complex continuum of parental alienation throughout the US and Canada.
