Counseling offers a respectful and confidential process for individuals, couples, and families to recognize their strengths and make desired changes.  Kimberley’s style of counseling is warm, empathetic, and understanding.  She believes that all people can gain insight and learn skills that will help them live a balanced and fulfilled life.  Kimberley strives to create an open, comfortable environment in which clients are able to gain awareness about themselves as well as their relationships with others.  She encourages her clients to actively participate in therapy in order to benefit fully from the counseling process.  Her developmental and insight oriented approach to counseling promotes the health and well-being of her clients.

At Foundations Counseling, Kimberley sees clients who seek counseling for a broad range of reasons, including:

• Relationship Matters:  couples and marriage counseling, premarital counseling, unresolved conflict, affairs, addictions, co-dependency, divorce, sexual issues

• Relational Issues:  communication skills, adolescent development, parenting skills, family relationships

• Life Adjustments:  grief and loss, employment issues and career changes, life transitions, short-term problem solving, long-term goal planning

• Health and Wellness:  stress management, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, weight loss and obesity, eating disorders, sleep disorders, trauma and abuse recovery, alcohol abuse, substance abuse, spouses of sex addicts

Kimberley has extensive experience working with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents.  She provides both short and long term counseling and has worked with several community based agencies throughout the Northern Colorado area.

Kimberley received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado where she focused her studies on marriage and family therapy.  She also completed her undergraduate degree in Human Rehabilitative Services from the University of Northern Colorado.  Kimberley is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a member of the American Counseling Association and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists.

Kimberley was an honorary recipient of a full scholarship from the Stryker Institute for Leadership Development, which is an organization dedicated to building leadership skills and fostering constructive personal and professional relationships.  She facilitated workshops on communication, conflict resolution, and personal growth. She also mentored young girls in the community to help them discover their unique strengths, build on their talents, and create goals.

Her previous employment includes time spent at North Range Behavioral Health as a family therapist, where she provided assessments, treatment planning, and counseling to individuals, couples, and families.  Previously, she worked at PsychCare Family Recovery Center counseling adolescents while also facilitating parenting classes and interpersonal coping skills educational groups.  She has also worked at Envision as an adult case manager, providing case management support to adults with developmental disabilities while collaborating with families of clients to design innovative service options.

Kimberley has abundant energy and a dynamic personality that shines through in her therapeutic style.  Her counseling philosophy centers on the idea that all people are striving to do well in their intimate relationships, but sometimes struggle to find the tools to demonstrate their good intentions.  She excels at engaging and motivating clients throughout the therapeutic process, while building hope for change and uncovering the source of communication difficulties.  She works with her clients to collaboratively develop creative strategies for change, matched to each person’s specific strengths and needs.
