Laura offers individual, couple, and family counseling from a Christian perspective. Her counseling approach integrates systemic, strategic, and Gestalt therapy to increase awareness and empower clients to improve their lives and relationships.
Personal Bio
Laura is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University. She is also trained in Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) and Gestalt. She is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Laura’s approach with you, the client, is to explore with you the underlying roots of the issues you are facing so that you can become free of the chronic stress and emotional drain. This may include becoming aware of family of origin patterns, repetitive attachment fears, or thoughts and ideas that have become ingrained in your approach to the world. Laura helps you understand both the benefits and the cost of change, so that you, the client, can take informed and purposeful action in your life. Laura’s goal for clients is to help you experience freedom from your pain and resolve the underlying issues so you can move forward to fully enjoy your life and purpose.

Laura has specialized training in trauma response and cognitive restructuring. She worked for two years as a clinician for the Youth Equipped for Success (YES!) program, providing therapy for adolescents and families involved with the juvenile justice system. In addition to her private practice, she works at the Building Stronger Families program to provide substance abuse treatment and trauma counseling according to the Multisystemic Therapy model.
