I have been helping individuals and couples learn how to cope with and surpass obstacles that keep them from achieving their personal, professional and academic goals for the past 20 years.

I have found, in my private practice, that people usually seek couples therapy or individual therapy when they are going through an extremely stressful time in their lives, feel increasingly depressed or anxious or feel dissatisfied with different aspects of their lives (relationships, career, life transitions). My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, confidential and non-judgmental atmosphere in which couples and individuals can express their feelings and gain insight into what led to their current state of mind or difficult situation.

Through self-exploration and recognition of self-defeating behaviors, couples and individuals can identify and change these behaviors in order to improve self-esteem, relationships in their lives and pursuit of personal and professional goals. I provide short and long term individual and couples psychotherapy for adults and adolescents.

My eclectic approach includes psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques as well as Imago Relationship Therapy to meet the unique needs of each individual and couple as no two people, or couples, are alike.

I work with clients on two fronts. I help them to develop tools and strategies that work for them on a daily basis to decrease depressed mood, anxiety, negative thinking and impulsive behavior that is self sabotaging. At the same time, I work with clients to help them explore and gain awareness of underlying issues that have lead to their current problems.

One of my specialties is working with parents of children with special needs. I have worked with children with special needs and their families for several years. I am here to listen to your struggles. I help couples and families work through conflict, stress and tension associated with caring for a special needs child. I also help parents to navigate difficult systems in order to get their children the services they need.

The initial consultation serves to help me get an understanding of what brings you to therapy at this time and how I can be of help to you. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and determine if we are a good "fit." It is of the utmost importance to me that clients feel comfortable and get what they need from our work together.

I have been providing individual, marital and group counseling for the past 20 years. I received my master's in social work from Fordham University, my certificate in psychodynamic psychotherapy from The New York Psychoanalytic Institute and trained extensively to become a certified Imago therapist.
