My passion for working with women began back in the early 1990's when I was working at both an inpatient eating disorder / substance abuse unit in Atlanta and an outpatient counseling center where we treated many women who presented with histories of sexual abuse. Over the years, I have had the privilege of assisting women in multiple settings, which have included an outpatient substance abuse program, an inpatient psychiatric hospital and in the family court system as a trained mediator. I have been working in private practice for the past six years.  All of these experiences have enabled me to develop a clinical approach that optimizes healing and recovery.

I instruct all of my clients in the latest brain science related to their presenting issue and I provide them with skills to optimize the neural integration of their brains. My clinical approach is heavily influenced by the precepts of Acceptance Commitment Therapy as well as Rogerian Therapy. I have received over 50 hours in training in EMDR, which is a front line approach in treating trauma. All of my clients are instructed in the skills of meditation or centering prayer as part of a well lived life.

When I receive a referral, I make the first introductory phone call myself by spending fifteen or twenty minutes with the woman, discussing her presenting issue. Coming to counseling can be daunting and I have found that a personal introductory phone call makes all the difference in making the process easier. I schedule all of my sessions myself and I practice in a light filled cottage that feels safe and comforting to the women who come to see me.
