I have been in the counseling field for 20 years.  I have been in private practice since 2002.  I have worked throughout the years as a Therapeutic Staff Support, Behavioral Specialist Consultant, Mobile Therapist, Residential Treatment Facility Counselor, Family-Based Therapist, Alternative School Teacher, Substitute Teacher at Public Schools, Child Care/Daycare worker, Child Swim Instructor, High School Volleyball Coach, Instructor of Psychology and Sociology at a community college.  I have been fortunate to gain insight, guidance, and perspective from many wonderful and professional coworkers, colleagues, instructors, supervisors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and people in my everyday life that have helped mold me into the therapist I am today.  I am a genuine, empathetic, and understanding counselor.  My view of counseling is a helping process, mainly through Person Centered, Adlerian, and Existential Therapies.  Helping you to make choices about what you want to be, have, do, and more importantly give to others and your world.  This involves a process of coming to a self awareness, an understanding of your wants and needs; taking a risk to explore your feelings and values and share them with me in an open and honest way in a confidential, safe, and accepting environment in which you may find the answers to your problems.  It is also beneficial to explore past and present family history and relationships through the construction of a family genogram including individual and family strengths.  Creating change, hope, and growth, along with individual goal setting, are encouraged.  I use a flexible and creative, whatever it takes approach.  I graduated in 1993 from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.  I graduated in 1998 from Indiana Universtiy of Pennsylvania with a Master of Arts Degree in Community Counseling.  I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania, enabling me to have my private counseling practice.
