As a mother of a child with disabilities and former special education teacher, Lisa knows how difficult it can be to watch your child struggle. Whether your child is experiencing academic, behavioral, or emotional complications, Lisa can help. It is never too late to seek help; children are always growing and changing, and counseling is a positive way to be proactive about your child's development. Lisa has 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and their families, and she is trained in several play and family therapy approaches.

Lisa is passionate about her work with children and families, and she specializes in play therapy (including Autplay Therapy, Child Parent Relationship Therapy, Filial Play Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy); Lisa specializes in working with children with disabilities and their families, and she is one of six therapists trained in Autplay Therapy, counseling and play therapy specifically designed for Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Down Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, Tourette Syndrome, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Additionally, Lisa is the mother of a child with disabilities and has experience with behavior modification from her time as a special education teacher.

Lisa has worked with children for the past ten years; she has a special way with them. Lisa provides structured and play based counseling for children with disabilities and their siblings. She has a fun and beautiful play room that kids enjoy visiting. Lisa works with the entire family and has routine sessions with just parents as well. Her office is comfortable and private, and her time with children and families is well spent working on coping skills, emotional regulation, feelings identification and communication, and behavior management. Lisa understands the needs of children with disabilities both as a mother and a counselor, and she goes to great lengths to create an environment that is not over stimulating or stressful. She works with kids at their own pace, respecting their developmental level and needs. Because of her experience, Lisa has a unique understanding of children with disabilities and their families, and that experience allows her to make kids comfortable during counseling. She meets each child where they are at. 

Lisa's experience as both a special education teacher and school counselor allow her to support families of children with disabilities in a way other providers cannot. Lisa has 10 years of experience working with children and families, and she has a unique understanding of the educational system. She has spent years attending ARDs, making IEP goals, and counseling children with disabilities and their families. Lisa’s specialties include Autism Spectrum Disorder (including Asperger Syndrome), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, emotional disturbance, impulse control disorders, Sensory Integration Disorders, behavioral problems, Intellectual Disabilities, Down Syndrome, Selective Mutism, and childhood Depression and Anxiety.

Lisa loves working with children and families, and her background and experience gives her a unique understanding of their needs. She is trained in several play and family therapy techniques, and she is one of six providers trained in therapy techniques specifically designed for Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, impulse control disorders, and other neurodevelopmental disorders.

Lisa’s office is located in a beautiful and private area of Dallas, just off of the Tollway, and her practice offers a comfortable waiting area, client coffee bar, a large play room, and a beautifully decorated office space. Because she works with children, Lisa has after school and weekend availability for clients. Finally, knowing that child and family counseling can be a difficult step to take, she provides parents with a free phone consultation as well as regular meetings to assess counseling progress. Lisa is a goal-directed therapist that has helped many children and families make positive changes in their lives, and she is devoted to her work with them as a mother and therapist.
