Individuals with Down's syndrome and their families can take advantage of a host of resources offered by F.R.I.E.N.D.S. that facilitate improved functioning. Social events allow people of all ages to come together to have fun in a safe and nurturing environment. Monthly meetings are a resource for parents and expecting parents to learn about the joys and challenges of raising a child with a developmental disability. The agency also engages in community awareness campaigns to improve understanding of Down's syndrome and increase acceptance of individuals who live with the disorder.5

Current Initiatives

Casa De Maryland is a non-profit advocacy agency that seeks to empower low-income Latino residents to effect positive social change and remove existing social barriers. Volunteer committees work with local governments, housing providers, and other stakeholders to make communities safer, housing more efficient, and educational opportunities more abundant for the underserved.
