I am a licensed professional counselor and I've been working in the field, providing therapy support since I first started off working for a program that helped teens and their families in 2001.
Becoming a therapist was a second career for me after having worked in higher education and as an educational consultant for families and high school students for years prior. In 2002 I dove into the work of specializing in early childhood development and I founded an innovative emotion-education program implemented in several preschools in the metro Atlanta area. From there I began providing play therapy, parenting support and family counseling.
I've been providing counseling support for children, parents, adults, families and couples in private practice settings since 2005.
As a Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor and a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor I am qualified to train and supervise other therapists in the work of counseling children and families using the very special work of play therapy.  I do a lot of that. And that means that I know what I am doing. I am a highly skilled and effective therapist.
But perhaps even more important is that I'm a compassionate therapist.
I provide that warmth and genuine caring that clients need in a relationship with their therapist. You need to know you can trust me to be there for you every step of the way. I can and will do that for you.
How to begin and what to expect?
You can expect to speak with me personally either over the phone or in person for 30 minutes at no cost so I can hear what is happening in your life or your child's life that brings you to counseling and what it is you feel is most need. I will provide answers to your questions and if we both feel like I'm the right fit for you or your child, we will set up a first appointment at my office.
What if paying for therapy is a concern?
We  have options and we will discuss those in our first conversation. I believe in making counseling affordable for everyone. If for any reason we can't make it work for you and your budget, I will happily provide referrals to other therapists who might be a better fit.
How long do counseling sessions last?
    • Initial Intake Session 90 minutes
    • All Couples Sessions 90 minutes
    • All Family Sessions 90 minutes
    • Individual Adult Therapy Sessions 50 minutes
    • Play Therapy Sessions 45 minutes

I also want you to know this about me. . .

I see you as a whole person. You have thoughts, emotions, brain chemistry, physical body and spirit/soul. I come to counseling from this holistic perspective and you might hear me ask you about how you're taking care of yourself outside of session. I borrow from my years as a yoga teacher helping clients know how to use the breath to bring calm, increase focus and bring together mind, body and spirit.
I believe in authentic relationship as the basis of growth. I, therefore, believe in providing a bit of appropriate personal disclosure so you know I am a human being in this role as your therapist. I believe in maintaining a healthy, professional therapeutic relationship with my clients which includes that human to human connection.
