Dr. Goebel-Komala earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH in 2002. She is a general practice clinical psychologist and is competent to work with clients throughout the lifespan.
Before earning her doctorate, she earned a Master of Science degree in Psychology at California State University in Bakersfield, CA. With her Master's degree she became licensed in California as a Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor (MFCC). As an MFCC she worked at Memorial Center for Behavioral Health in Bakersfield, CA, a locked psychiatric hospital. At the psychiatric hospital she did clinical practice with teens and adults. She also served as a clinician at the outpatient clinics associated with the hospital: one in the juvenile detention center in Bakersfield, another on the grounds of the hospital, and rural clinics in Delano and Taft, CA.
She is currently in a solo private practice called Sophos Wellness Center in Findlay, OH. She has been happily married to Felix Goebel-Komala for 26 years. Felix is the Liturgy and Music Director at St. Michael Catholic Church in Findlay, OH. Felix and Mary adopted their lovely daughter, Felicity, from China in 2005.
