WHAT IS THERAPY?
Getting to the 'Heart of the Matter ' is what therapy is all about!
If you want to feel better about yourself and your life, you must to willing to do some self exploration. Whether you are suffering from a broken heart, depressed mood or anxiety, there is always a root cause. Sometimes the root cause is obvious, and other times its more complex than meets the eye. Whether you are bothered by difficult emotions or unwanted behaviours, transformation is possible. In a safe and respectful manner, we will do a bit of digging to see where the issues stem from. Once we start facing root causes, you will discover aspects of yourself and factors affecting your suffering. This is always done in an atmosphere of compassion.
Over the past 2 decades, I have worked in a variety of settings including, university / college settings, the non profit sector, mental health hospitals, counselling centers, and now focus and work in my independent therapy practice.
I hold a Masters of Science Degree in Clinical Psychology.
I am a member of the Ontario Psychological Association.

My approach to therapy is warm, engaging, yet direct. We will start exploring the source of issues you are struggling with in both a safe and respectful manner. Given the complexity problems, I meet you where you are and explore the various layers of an issue. My approach is holistic and considers mental, physical, emotional and contextual (life experience) aspects of your suffering. Know that therapy is more than listening and is not a passive process. Rather, it is an exploration of patterns and issues and your coping mechanisms, some of which may need attention. Communication is always a 2 way street, with the goal of honoring your desire for genuine wholeness as you move along your healing path.

I will help you move from struggle to a point of self understanding, challenge and breakthrough. You will gain more hope and confident along the way.
