I have been involved in the mental health field for over 10 years in a variety of roles that includes working with individuals, families, couples, children, teens, adults, and the elderly. I have experience working in the classroom, hospital, outreach, and with the government. His clients experience a supportive environment with the right balance of push for growth and change to lead a better life and relationships. Nelson's approach is deeply rooted in an encouragement-based that looks into past discouragements, current maladaptation in the individual's life, and a shift towards a self-chosen future path.
I provide therapy for individuals, children, teens, parents, parent-child relationship issues, couples, and groups. My work is based on understanding how an individual is impacted by their experiences, surroundings, and major life relationships (or lack of), and working to heal or move on from these difficulties to live a fulfilling life. I am experienced in working with clients with parent-child/teen issues and conflicts, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma and abuse, and couples' issues. Many men have specifically sought out my help for various challenges, from parenting and anger management, to stressors from work, friends, and partners.
With my expertise and background, I have worked with clients who have had claims with ICBC and BC Crime Victim Assistance Program for car accident injuries and abuse/trauma victims in BC. I am also a clinician for families diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, a support worker with students with special needs in the Burnaby School District, and a faculty instructor for mental health, counselling, and coaching institutions.
