Welcome, and congratulations on taking the first step toward creating change. My motto is "Travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light." This can only be accomplished by shedding burdens that weigh you down. I have experience in and enjoy working with a wide range of clients including adolescents, families, couples, individuals, and our aging baby boomer population. I aim to create a compassionate and nurturing environment for personal exploration and healing. I enjoy working with clients who may be apprehensive of mental health services or have had negative experiences with therapy in the past.

I specialize in work with children, adolescents, and families. I use a psychodynamic approach which works well with people struggling with trauma as well as mood disorders. My experience in school settings has allowed me to work with students that have learning disabilities including, but not limited to Autism, ADHD, and Auditory Processing Disorders.  Because of both personal and professional experience, I've worked with students who have 504 plans and IEPs and have advocated many times for clients and their families in these situations.  I've also worked with families who've had a child recently diagnosed with neurological disorders such as autism and other learning differences.  These diagnosis can sometimes cause a crisis within the family when people are scrambling to find the appropriate support and services for their recently diagnosed child.  I have experience in working with siblings who may suddenly find themselves overlooked by their parents, unintentionally of course, due to the crisis of dealing with a special needs child.

My training was at a clean and sober high school in Santa Cruz County and I have experience in working with individuals addicted to drugs and alcohol.  I ran a substance abuse support group at a Los Angeles based high school for 3 years and helped adolescents discover the reasons of their addiction as well as taught them healthy living skills to replace their substance use.  By educating adolescents the effects that drugs have on their young bodies and developing brains, they were able to make better choices and understand what happened to them, physiologically, when putting foreign substances into their bodies.

I am a bilingual therapist, fluent in English and Spanish and have run individual and family sessions, parent support groups, and unaccompanied minors groups in English and Spanish.
