HOW
CAN I HELP YOU?
I
approach therapy with an understanding that every client is a unique
person who needs to be heard, respected, and understood in a safe and
compassionate environment. As your difficulties may have more than
one source, I may explore a number of different
life areas with you, including:
Relationships
:
Are your relationships strong and nurturing, or is there ongoing
bitterness, manipulation, conflict, control, or disinterest? Do you
have somebody in your life you can really trust and share your
deepest experiences with, or do you feel alone and isolated?
Work
:
Are you doing a job, or working on a personal project, that is
engaging and fulfilling, or are you feeling bored and disinterested?
Thoughts
:
Are your thoughts balanced and constructive, or are you plagued by
negative and distorted habits of thinking?
Emotions
:
Are you aware of your emotions and able to manage them effectively,
or do you tend to avoid and suppress them or easily lose control of
them? Do you struggle with addictions to drugs, sex, or other things?
Stress
:
Is there too much to do or too much hurry in your living environment
or work environment, or is there time for quiet, peace, and
enjoyment?
History
:
Are there troubling issues in your past that continue to cause you
difficulty, or have you been able to work through these issues?
Values
:
Do you believe in living with openness, compassion, commitment,
self-discipline, forgiveness, and other life-giving values, or do you
find yourself drawn to selfish or hostile values?
Meaning
and Purpose
: Is your life inspired and
fuelled by a larger sense of meaning and purpose, or does it seem
arbitrary and pointless?
Health
Issues
: Do you exercise? Do you have
good eating and sleeping habits? Are you suffering from health
conditions (chronic pain, etc.) that may be affecting your
well-being? Is there a need for a referral to a physician or
specialist?
