Philip received his Master’s degree in counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. His experience in counseling includes more than 20 years in pastoral work for various churches as senior minister. For the past two years, he has maintained a private counseling practice in Johnson City, TN and has done PRN work for Woodridge Psychiatric Hospital. Philip works with adolescents and adults in individual, couple, and family settings. He has experience in working with a broad range of issues including: Addiction, Anger Management, Anxiety/PTSD, Depression, Grief/Loss, Marriage Preparation, Parenting, and Trauma/Abuse. Philip has completed a training course in Trauma Focused—Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) which is used in the treatment of Abuse and PTSD. He has also implemented a program based on the TF-CBT model at an orphanage in Liberia, West Africa to meet the needs of children affected by the trauma of civil war. Philip has been married for more than 31 years and has three children and two granddaughters.
